SNEAKER DRIVE

Kuki Ndiho partners with community organizations, schools of all levels, religious and cultural institutions to gather, collect and ship much-needed clothing items to its orphans in Rwanda. Annual Sneaker Drive

Seventh and eighth grader at the Christian Formation Student at St. Vincent Martyr Catholic Church in MADISON, NEW JERSEY are holding a sneaker drive for Rwandan Orphans through the holiday season. The Borough of Madison in New Jersey’s Proclamation

 Proclaiming

                   Genocide and Reconciliation Awareness

                                    Day   April 16, 2009

 Whereas, genocide is known to have claimed   the lives of many   millions   of    innocent   victims    Worldwide    over the last century; and

 Whereas, governments   and international   organizations have   focused on the causes of, and the recovery from, genocide; and

Whereas,     2009   is   the  15th  anniversary  of  the  Rwanda  genocide,  yet  other  genocides   continue;  and

Whereas,   recovery, reconciliation and   forgiveness   are   important   aspects   of   awareness   for members of society; and

 Whereas,   the   College   of   Saint   Elizabeth,    Drew   University,    the  Urban  League  of  Morris County, Madison High School,   St. Vincent  Martyr  Roman  Catholic  Church,   the   Madison  Rotary    and   Kuki  Ndiho  Rwanda  Orphans  Support   Project    are   collaborating   to  provide   opportunities  for  our  community   to  learn  about   genocide  and   reconciliation   via   seminars, lectures  and   cultural   performances ; and

 Whereas,  the   community  of  Madison ,  as  concerned  and   involved   citizens  of   the  world,    supports   the  United  Nations “ 2009 International  Year  of  Reconciliation  “   and  the  genocide   awareness  events   in   Madison;

 NOW, THEREFORE,  I,  Mary – Anna Holden,  Mayor   of  the Borough  of Madison  , on  behalf  of the Governing   Body ,  do  hereby   proclaim  April 16,2009   as  Genocide  and    Reconciliation  Awareness  Day   in   the  Borough    of   Madison  and   urge    all   residents    to   join   with  me   in   ending  genocide  around   the   world   and   promoting  reconciliation.
